BOB SWENSON'S   PRESIDENT’S LETTER   February 2010

Welcome to the Walton County Snowbird Web Site

Walton County Snowbird activities are in full swing.  If you are just arriving we look forward to you joining our club and sharing the fun that is provided by all the Snowbird volunteers and our sponsors.

We have really been fortunate in finding facilities to hold our General Meetings and Activities.  The Destin United Methodist Life Center provided an amazing welcome for our inaugural use of their facility.   We will be holding our February 10th General Meeting at this location and have just secured it for our January and February meetings in 2011.  Entertainment for the February Meeting will be provided by The Dent Brothers.  Of special interest will be the annual Art Show by our Snowbird Artists.  The meeting starts at 10:00 A.M.  Doors will be open at 9:00 A.M. so come early in order to have time to view the artists’ work and visit with various sponsors.

This meeting will be your final chance to purchase tickets for the bicycle being raffled off to raise money for the Walton County Snowbird Scholarship Fund.  Funds raised are awarded to a local high school senior who will attend a post-secondary school.

Our annual dinner dance party will be held at the Sandestin Hilton on February 22nd with David Seering providing the music. Our thanks goes out to Kay Hess, Ralph Wosniak and Al Francis for arranging this fun night.  The Ladies’ Luncheon will be held on Wednesday February 24th at the Embassy Suites.    Debra Bailey, Patti Hand, Karen Dahl, and Kay Hess have worked hard to make this year’s event a success.

Our March General Meeting will be held at Santa Rosa Beach Community Church.  The Meeting will feature our Snowbird Singers directed by Karl Keilhau.  This will be their second performance of the year.  They will also be giving a performance on Sat. Feb. 26th   at the Church.  This performance will raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti.

Snowbird registration has gone very well this year thanks to Barb Becker and her committee.  The final day to register for this Snowbird season will be on Monday,  February 8, 2010 at Faith Assembly Church.

Our Snowbird Club boasts of a membership of 2000 and our activities are open to all winter visitors. The club is led by its members, financed by its members, and is for the recreational, social, fellowship, travel and enjoyment of all who participate.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you soon.

Bob Swenson, President
